Daphne’s developing some adorable age-appropriate thinking. Some, not so adorable. Like asking “why” about absolutely everything, with an indignant tone.
Daphne, don’t put your hand in the dog’s mouth. WHY? Because her mouth is dirty. WHY? Because she licks things outside. WHY? Because she is a dog. WHY?
This can go on for hours of entertainment.
She now enjoys reminiscing, sometimes about things that just happened, sometimes about things that have never happened.
“Amember I help Daddy buy new telephones?” She accompanied Z to the music store to buy new headphones. Yesterday. We still remember, believe it or not.
“Amember I buckle myself in my car seat all by self?” Nope. Never happened.
It’s pretty cool that she has understood that memories exist and that it’s nice to share them with people.

Turn it on her. “Amember when you ate your dinner all gone and asked for more?”
Caleb does this all the time. “Bremember when I was a baby and I had a tube?”
Uhh, no kid, I don’t.
That reminds of when Lucy asked why there are no pictures of when *she* was in the hospital with tubes in her mouth and nose. Our poor kids.
Sam is in this stage too. It’s so cute. The curtain rod in our bedroom fell down a long time ago, the curtain and rod are still on the floor and a bath towel is covering the window. Last night he was telling me all about how he broke the curtain, and he put up a green towel so that it could be dark for daddy to sleep. Except he didn’t break it, he didn’t design the solution, and the towel (which we were in the same room when this discussion happened) is pink. Love it!
Haha! That’s awesome. What did you say to her when she remembered buckling herself? I wonder if she actually thinks she did it all by herself…?
